The demolition and abatement for the Cameron Yoe Building Renovation is broken into (2) phases, Demolition + Abatement. First, we started with interior demolition + successfully strategized with EBCO our historical approach. Due to the building’s historical designation, standard methods were not able to be utilized when removing debris/materials from the interior to exterior. Our team had to get innovative and value engineer another strategy that would yield the same results. We used a telehandler/rough terrain forklift to get materials out of the building due to limited access and/or safekeeping for historical preservation reasons. Phase 2 consisted of exterior abatement of three (3) stories of window caulking, as well as exterior building demolition of the West elevation using scaffolding and salvaging of the original brick.

The Domain Exterior Renovation
  • Agency/Company: Graycor Inc. x Simon Property Group

  • Scope of Work: Exterior Demolition

  • Year Awarded + Started: 2023

  • Year Completed: Phase 1 completed December 2023; Phase 2 in progress

  • Highlights: Tejas is grateful to be awarded the demolition scope for The Domain's multi-million-dollar exterior renovation for Simon Property Group, alongside Graycor. To this point, we have completed Phase 1, which consisted of exterior façade and canopy demolition. All stores remained open during construction, so multi-level scaffolding was built to keep the public protected from construction, while allowing us to work efficiently. Tejas understands the importance of keeping day-to-day operations running and safe, therefore we directed our focus to making sure pedestrians and workers were protected. During Phase 1, we worked to deface several 30-foot tall columns. Due to off-ground work, we used yoyo’s, lifelines, and other facets to make sure our crew members were safe on the scaffolding and lifts as they worked. To this point, minimal disruption has been caused to the shopping center, and we kept Tenants’ storefronts as accessible and clean as possible throughout the entire course of our work.
